James M. Braun, age 89, of Vero Beach, Fla., died January 27, with his daughter by his side. He was born in Cincinnati, OH, on March 29, 1931, and spent most of his childhood in Stearns, KY. A graduate of the Citadel in Charleston, SC, Jim entered the U.S. Army at the conclusion of his studies and as a Second Lieutenant he was stationed in Japan.
In 1953 he married Billlie Manis, and they had a daughter, Kim. Jim spent his career with Bell South, later A T&T, and he and Billie lived in numerous cities during his working life. After he retired, the couple moved to Vero Beach where they cultivated many friends.
Jim was an avid golfer, and a golf fan. When he wasn’t playing, he enjoyed talking about it. He played golf at Vero Beach Country Club, where he was a member since 1995. Jim was a sports fan in general and he was especially enthusiastic about following the Atlanta Braves and the Auburn Tigers.
He was predeceased by Billie, his wife of 64 years, and is survived by his daughter Kim.
