James Kirk Cushman, 71, of Leesburg died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at Loudoun Hospital Center. Mr. Cushman was born June 3, 1932, in Montevideo, Minn. He had retired as a teacher from the Fairfax County public school system and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a graduate of The Citadel and the University of Wyoming. He served on the Loudoun County Board of Equalization and was an associate member of the Leesburg Volunteer Fire Company. Survivors include his wife, Marilynn B. Cushman of Leesburg; his mother, Dolores Euphenia Spurlock of Phoenix, Ariz.; a son, Michael Cushman of King George County; a daughter, Kelly Eller of King George; two stepsons, Robert Simpson of Salisbury, Md., and Matthew Simpson of Leesburg; three grandsons, Hunter Cushman, Marcus Cushman and Sylas Simpson; a granddaughter, Morel Simpson; and many great friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Milo Ralph Cushman. There will be a wake at his residence on Saturday, June 5.
