James “Nick” Mercer, age 56, of Dalton, Ga., passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Erlanger Medical Center.Mr. Mercer was a 1983 graduate of the Citadel Military College.He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Jane Mercer; Father-in-law, Leon Thurman.He is survived by the mother of his children, Melissa Trammell. Two sons, Nicholas Elijah Mercer of Dalton and Noah Aaron Mercer of Adairsville; Niece, Rebecca Mercer of Seattle, Washington. Two brothers, Gary Mercer and Barry Mercer, both of Rocky Face.The funeral service will be held Friday, March 2, 2018 at 2:00p.m. in the Rocky Face Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral home with Rev. Dewey Boyd officiating.
