James C. Parker passed away at his home Monday morning Dec. 8th, 2003. Services will be held Friday December 12, at 1:00 p.m., Hillview United Methodist Church, officiated by Reverend David Thompson. Burial will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are by Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel, Meridian. James Carlton Parker was born on Sept. 5, 1934 in Columbia, South Carolina. He graduated from the Citadel at the top of his class in 1956. On June 3, 1956, he married the true love of his life Clara Orvin, in the Summerall Chapel in Charleston, South Carolina. He was an officer in the United States Air Force from 1956-1972. He was a devoted and loved husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed. Jim had a quick wit and sense of humor that always made those around him feel special. His keen eye for business led him to an excellent 23 year career with Boise Cascade. He served on the Burley City Council from 1980-1984. His leadership and integrity were some of his many traits. Above all, Jim’s love for his family was always felt by those around him. His hobbies and interests were broad but his favorites were camping with his family and playing golf with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Broadus Parker; mother, Loleta Johnson Parker; stepmother Ethel Parker; sister Marion Farrar; son Robert Wilson Parker; and granddaughter Anna Leigh Parker. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Clara Jean; sister Edy Bosworth; son Carlton and daughter-in-law Kit; daughter Diane Satchwell and son-in-law Terry; and son David and daughter-in-law Laurie. He is also survived by his grandchildren Matthew, Carolyn, Christina, Jonathan, Tait, Catherine, Kelsey, and Audrey.
