James B. Raymer, Sr., MD Dr. Raymer, of Charlotte, died Thursday, December 2, 2004 at Carolinas Medical Center-Main. Dr. Raymer was born on December 1, 1924 in Statesville to the late Dewey and Ethel Raymer. Dr. Raymer attended The Citadel and was drafted in World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. Following WWII he entered medical school at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and later graduated from Case Western Reserve with a Medical Degree. Dr. Raymer was a surgeon in private practice in Charlotte for many years. Dr. Raymer is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Opal Raymer of Charlotte; son, James B. Raymer, Jr. and wife Marie, and their children, James B. Raymer III and David Michael Raymer; and son, Robert Raymer, all of Charlotte. Funeral services for Dr. Raymer will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 6, 2004 at Harry and Bryant Company Chapel in the Oaks, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. Harry and Bryant Company is serving the family of Dr. James B. Raymer
