SALTERS / James Bennett McCollough Jr., 79, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004 in a Myrtle Beach hospital. Mr. McCollough was born Aug. 16, 2004, in Salters, a son of the late James B. McCollough and Leila Virginia Ferrell McCollough. He was a graduate of Kingstree high School and The Citadel. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII as a fighter pilot and retired from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as regional engineer. Mr. McCollough was a member of the VFW and a former member of the Lions Club. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Lawrence McCollough of Salters; one son, William Bennett McCollough of Murrells Inlet; one daughter, Nancy M. Victoriano of St. Mary, Ga.; his twin brother, William Ferrell McCollough of Beltsville, Md.; a sister, Betty M. Burgess of Litchfield; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Union Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery, directed by Williamsburg Funeral home.
