James Bain Kendrick, of Myrtle Beach, passed away at age 102 on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Brightwater senior living. He was born on May 17, 1919 (an identical twin) in Gastonia, NC to the late Eli and Grace Huckabee Kendrick. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the M. B. Moore Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Geneva “Ninky” Sanders Kendrick. He leaves behind one daughter, Christine Reynolds and her husband Joe Reynolds of Chapel Hill, NC; two grandchildren, Molly Garlington and Jake Reynolds; and four great grandchildren, Max and Aven Garlington and June and Miller Reynolds.
A Citadel graduate and a US Air Force pilot, he retired in 1968 and moved to Myrtle Beach. He was active locally in business and other endeavors, including the Order of Daedalians, Rotary International, and Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union Board of Trustees.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 1:00 PM at First United Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, PO Box 1367, Myrtle Beach, SC 29578 or the Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090.
