Jerry Lee Johnson, Jr., 53, of Greenwood, SC, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 while on a cruise. Born in Greenwood, he was the son of Sandra Pope Johnson and Jerry Johnson. Lee was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church, was a 1978 graduate of Greenwood High School and a 1982 graduate of The Citadel, where he was 1st Battalion Executive Officer. He was employed by the Jacobson Co. at Solutia Ascend Performance. Surviving is his mother of the home; his father of Mobile, AL; his daughter, Kara Doyle of Ware Shoals and his beloved grandchildren, Aiden and Anna Grace Doyle. Also surviving is his grandmother, Nora Pope, of the home; his sister, Nora Jean Bell (Jeff) of Eatonton, GA; his brother, Dr. Richard DeWitt Johnson (Kelli) of Lumberton, NC; an aunt, Betty Abrams of Greenwood, SC, and a very special love, Claudia Rua and her daughter, Sara, both of Greenville, SC. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with the Rev. Ryan Eklund officiating and a close friend, Bobby Sprouse. Honorary escorts will be Mark Salter, Mark Wilson, Lee Carroll, Frank Henderson, Rodney Blanton, Jimmy Calloway, Khalad Abdelwaha and the employees of Jacobson Co. The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. The family is at the home.
