J. K. (Ken) Davis, of Largo, Fla., died March 26, 2013. Born in Greensboro, FL and spent his early life in Delray Beach FL. He attended the Citadel before going to Emory University, received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1944. After graduation he served for a short period of time in the Army Dental Department in Fort McClelland, Alabama before being transferred to the Naval Dental Corp at Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL. After his discharge he bought the dental practice of one of the eight dentists, Dr. Charles Moreland in Clearwater. Recalled to active duty during the Korean Conflict, assigned to the Marines 2nd Amphibious Battalion at Camp Lejeune, NC. Member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, and a member of the past presidents of the West Coast Dental Association, the Pinellas County Dental Association, and the Upper Pinellas Dental Association. Member of Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church where he had served as a Deacon and an Elder. Survived by his four sons, James K Jr. Elijay, GA, Richard M, Milford of DE, Jack P., of Apopka, FL & Hugh of Key Largo, FL; and his 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Inurnment will take place on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. A Celebration of Dr. Davis’ life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church in Clearwater, FL. Tags: 1942
