John Curtis Youngblood, Jr. passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Margaret R. Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, N.C.
He was the son of Beverly June Kale Youngblood and John Curtis Youngblood, Sr. He is also joined in heaven with his son, Evan Mark Durham.
Curtis was born September 19, 1949 in Charlotte, NC and grew up and lived most of his life in the Asheville area. He was a graduate of Asheville Country Day School as well as The Citadel (Military College of South Carolina) in Charleston, SC. After college, he served his country in the United States Army, ascending to the rank of Captain.
Curtis was an extremely active member of the Fletcher and greater Asheville business community, both as President of Youngblood Truck Lines and in his management of properties later in his career. He was also an avid Citadel Bulldog alumni- regularly traveling to football games and keeping close friendships with his classmates. Curtis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother. You would often find him working on projects around his home, usually with at least one dog in tow.
A private family celebration of Curtis’ life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to organizations who support veterans in need such as Asheville’s ABCCM Veterans Restoration Quarters.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
