Hugh Walker White III, age 85, of Big Canoe, Georgia, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper, Georgia. He was born April 13, 1938 to Hugh Walker White, Sr. and Lucilla Meyer in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Hugh graduated from The Citadel in 1960 with a deep family history which was always very important to him. Hugh was an Air Force Veteran and very proud of his Vietnam service. Hugh had a long career in aviation underwriting where many lasting bonds were made. Always the consummate joker, Hugh always enjoyed making people smile and laugh. He always thought of others first and put himself last never wanting any fuss to be made on his behalf. He had a love of words and writing which gave him much pleasure and made for many wonderful articles to read on his website. He will truly be missed beyond measure.
Hugh is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia White of Big Canoe; daughter and son-in-law, Juliana and Robert Pawenski of Ball Ground; daughter, Wendolyn Spencer of Douglas; grandchildren, Samantha and Alex Mizell of Douglas, Olivia Pawenski of Ball Ground; great-granddaughter, Charlotte Rose; sister and brother-in-law, Ann (White) and David Wilson of Cincinnati, Ohio; niece, Karen and Pete Glesius and children of Avon Lake, Ohio; nephew, Kevin and Amy Wilson and children of Springboro, Ohio.
Funeral Mass will be held on October 19, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Tri officiating. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery on October 20, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.
