Hugh P. Murray, 98, of Pine Bluff, Ark., died July 30, 2019. Hugh was born May 25, 1921 to Thomas and Grace Murray in Yonkers, N.Y. He is survived by his wife, Louise Murray of Pine Bluff; son, Allan Murray (Zelma) and daughter, Donna Willis (William) of Hot Springs; stepson, Billy Mitcham (Elaine) of Alma, and stepdaughters Barbara Kimes (Dan) of Norman, Okla., Robin Divine (Mike) of Olive Branch, Miss. and Monica Mitcham of Pine Bluff, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Hugh joined the army during World War II, fought in the Pacific Campaign, and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He graduated from Citadel College in Charleston, S.C. in 1948, later moving to Arkansas and had long careers with Arkansas Power & Light as Division Sales Manager and Arkansas State Highway Department as an Internal Auditor. Hugh was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Pine Bluff. He loved playing his harmonicas and performing with “The Strummin Seniors” entertaining nursing homes in the area. Memorial Service will be 2 p.m., August 2, 2019 at Immanuel Baptist Church. Bro. Don Taylor will be officiating the service. Graveside service will be private.
