HUNTERSVILLE – Hubert Hugh McRae Ratcliff Jr., 81, of Huntersville died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville. He was born May 9, 1923, in Forsyth County to Hubert M. and Addie Shouse Ratcliff. Hugh was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, where he assisted with Meals on Wheels. He was a graduate of Reynolds High School and The Citadel military academy, class of 1943. He retired as a lieutenant colonel from the U.S. Army in 1983 after serving in both World War II and Korea. After his retirement from the service, he retired from Western Electric, where he worked as a CPA. Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Pollock Ratcliff; son Hubert Burt M. Ratcliff of Atlanta; daughters Patricia R. McPartland and husband Matt of California and Norma Jean R. Everson and husband John of California; brother James C. Ratcliff and wife Mary Ann of Winston-Salem; sister Maxine R. Truslow of Charlotte; grandson Travis Horn; and eight stepgrandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at Bethel Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Rob Hinman officiating. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
