Homer H. Jones, 92, of Brevard, NC, died on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. He is a son of the late Thomas Hardaway and Helen Rees Jones. Homer was retired from the U. S. Army. His proudest moment was as a platoon leader in the U S Army 508 Parachute Regiment that parachuted into Normandy on D Day. He also served during the Korean War. During his career he was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Joint Service Commendation Medals and the Master Parachute Badge. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Lawless Jones, who was also his fellow traveler for 67 years; two daughters, Helen (Richard) Adams, Kathy (John) Reiff; two sons, David (Annie) Jones and Peter (Megan) Jones; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
