WALTERBORO – Reverend Harry Mark Bowers, 68, of 1808 North Jefferies Highway, entered into eternal rest, Thursday, February 22, 2007, at Colleton Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Sunday, February 25, 2007, at Walterboro Church of God, directed by The Brice W. Herndon & Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Interment will follow in Bowers Cemetery in Brunson. Reverend Bowers was born October 5, 1938 in Colleton County and was the son of the late Harry Nelson Bowers and Valaree Stone Bowers. He received a BA in English from the former Baptist College in Charleston and a Masters in Psychology from The Citadel. He was a retired schoolteacher, having taught in Estill, SC for 5 years and at Walterboro High School for 26 years. He retired from the Colleton County School District in 1999. He was a retired minister, having served at First Christian Church of Hampton, First Christian Church of Walterboro, established and built Northside Christian Church in Walterboro, and served in various other churches in South Carolina and Georgia. He had a great love and knowledge of classical and opera music and of reading. Surviving are: his wife of 40 years, Helen Walker Infinger Bowers of Walterboro; children, Victoria Tuten and her husband James of Cummings and Cindy Corley and her husband John of Walterboro; grandchildren, Heather Tuten, John Thomas and his wife Dejah, Nina Thomas, and Mack D. Thomas; and great-grandchildren, Logan Thomas, Gabriel Thomas, Ainsley Roadfelt, and Mack R. Thomas. Family and friends may call Saturday evening from 6 until 8 at THE BRICE W.
