Harold Phillip Javetz, 76, of Savannah, Ga., died Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Memorial Health University Medical Center. Harold was born May 17, 1936 in Savannah, GA. He graduated Savannah High School in 1954, and The Citadel in 1958. He was in the Air Force Reserve, and was the President of Atlantic Meat Company until his retirement in 2001. He was the owner and operator of Coffee Bluff Marina from 1993-2008, and was a member of BB Jacob Synagogue. Harold was a race car driver and an avid car collector. He loved reading, playing golf, boating and building model airplanes. His number one passion was the game of baseball. Mr. Javetz was preceded in death by his parents, Rachel and Abe Javetz; and his son, Marc Javetz. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rochelle Boblasky Javetz; four children, Lainie Saul (Brian), Jay Javetz (Lynn) and Scott Javetz (Shannon) all of Savannah; and Paren Hardison (Bart) of Atlanta; daughter-in-law, Andrea Javetz of Athens, GA; brother, Lee Javetz (Janis) of Savannah; sister, Deanne Whitlock (Morris) of Atlanta; affectionately known as Papa to 10 grandchildren, Hallie and Jenny Javetz, Caroline and Pate Hardison, Andrew and Sarah Lily Javetz, Marc and Jack Saul, Reese and Matt Javetz; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
