Harold J. Blackmore, Jr. of Malibu, CA passed away Friday 3/07/2008 after a 5 month battle with Leukemia. He was 78. Mr. Blackmore, the son of Harold J. Blackmore, Sr. and Florence N. Blackmore of East Rockaway, NY was a 1951 graduate of The Citadel and a Korean War veteran. He is survived, by his beloved Kay Lenz of Malibu, CA; his daughter Karen Blackmore Gareri, granddaughter Francesca Gareri, grandson Walker Gareri and son-in-law Joe Gareri. Also, his son Harold J. Blackmore III of Lumberton, NC, daughter-in-law Rozell H. Blackmore, granddaughter Kerry A. Strupp of Kennesaw, GA, great-granddaughter Isabella Strupp and great grandson Alexander Strupp. Also, granddaughter Katie R. Semple of Rocky Mount, NC; great-grandson William Semple and grandson Adam N. Blackmore of Shallotte, NC. Mr. Blackmore was a teacher and coach in the West Springfield, MA school system and a retired Lt. Colonel in the Army Reserves. He was married to the late Barbara Ann Hill Blackmore of Ridgeville, SC who preceded him in death by eighteen years. The entire family with the exception of one great-grandchild gathered by his side mid-February for one last reunion. His cremains will be inurned in their final resting place in The Howie Memorial Bell Tower Columbarium on the grounds of The Citadel in Charleston, SC. Tags: 1951
