Memorial service for Harold Aubrey Ballentine, Sr., of 5712 Jabbo Court, Wake Forest, N.C. will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Bright Funeral Home Chapel, 405 South Main Street, Wake Forest, N.C. 27588, officiated by Rev. Neil Flowers and Rev. Tom Hollis. Mr. Ballentine died at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 6, 1932 in Berkeley County, S.C., the son of the late Renne Otto, Sr. and Annie M. Ballentine. He graduated from the Citadel in Charleston, S.C. and served in the United States Armed Forces. He was a member of the Beulah United Methodist Church in Sandy Run, S.C. where he was an active, dedicated, and faithful member, before moving to N.C. He was a Past Master Mason of Berkeley Lodge #269. After retiring from computer design and sales, he developed his interests in horticulture creating River Ridge Nursery. Harold was a voracious reader. Central to his life were both his faith and his family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Louise Locklair Ballentine. Surviving is daughter Leecia B. (Matthew) Bolton, Johnson City, Tenn., son Harold A. (Susie) Ballentine, Jr., Greenville, S.C., and daughter Patricia B. (James) Deal, Wake Forest, N.C.: He is proceeded in death by his loving son, Michael Reid Ballentine, brother, Renne Otto (Barbara) Ballentine, Jr., and sister, Doris B. (Clarence) Law. Harold loved his eleven grandchildren: Jana (Kevin) Davis, Apex, N.C., Ashleigh (Jesse) Near, Lexington, S.C., Trey McDaniel, Charlotte, N.C., Josh (April) Hatchell, Raleigh, N.C., Lindsay (Jim) Stanek, N.M., Jamie (Bobby) Turner, Raleigh, N.C., Kate Whelchel, Greenville, S.C., Catherine Bolton, Blaine Bolton, and Margaret Bolton, all of Johnson City, Tenn., and Allie Deal, Wake Forest, N.C. He was the very proud great grandfather of Tucker Bolton Jones, Johnson City, Tenn., Ava Louise Davis, Apex, N.C., Caroline Aubrey Near, Lexington, S.C., and Jimmy Stanek, III, Fayetteville, N.C. The family will receive visitors one hour before the memorial service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the Salkehatchie Youth Program through the United Methodist Church at 4908 Colonial Drive Columbia, S.C. 29203 or to the Coalition for Kids at PO Box 3156 Johnson City, Tenn. 37601.
