H. Martin Kahn, 85, of Greenville, husband of Betsy Orman Kahn, died Thursday, March 7, 2013. Born in Sumter, SC and raised in Conway, SC, he was the son of the late Joseph Marion and Jean Rephan Kahn. Mr. Kahn was a 1948 graduate of The Citadel and served his country in the United States Army, including a tour in Korea. As a local businessman and active member of the community, he was the owner of two local Precision Tune shops and for many years was Distribution Manager for Piedmont Industries. Mr. Kahn was a member of Congregation Beth Israel. A gentle, humble and calm man, he volunteered for the Greenville Hospital System for more than 15 years, enjoyed tennis and trips to the beach. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 40 years, are a son, Joseph Marion Kahn and wife, Emily, of Durham, NC; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Kahn Hutchison and husband, Randy, of Greenville; a granddaughter, Rosalie “”Salie”” Jane Hutchison of Greenville; many cousins, who were like brothers and sisters; and his very special grand dog, Bozeman. The funeral service will be held Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Congregation Beth Israel. Burial will follow in Beth Israel Cemetery.
