Gregory Bryan Todd (Greg, Hutto, GT) 66, of Fuquay Varina, NC went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 15, 2023 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease.
A memorial service will be held 11AM Friday, December 29, 2023 at the Forest Lake Presbyterian Church located at 6500 North Trenholm Rd, Columbia, SC the family will receive guest following the service at the church.
Born November 22, 1957 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Colonel Carl Todd and Tina Todd (Skinner).
Greg was the loving husband of Rhonda Todd (Goolsby), whom he affectionally called “Sport” for 40 years. In addition to his wife, Rhonda, he is survived by his two children, Michael Todd (Katherine); Haley Dickens (Lee); and two grandchildren Smith and Beau; siblings Teri Hanson(Joe), Lauri Truesdale (Jody), and Dr. Marc Todd (Teri)
Greg was a graduate of Spring Valley High School 1976 and attended The Citadel on a golf scholarship and earned a BS in Political Science 1980. It was his dream as a young golfer to work for Titleist – The #1 Ball in Golf. Greg’s unwavering spirit knew no bounds, especially when it came to chasing his dreams. His ambition, fueled by his mantra “If you don’t ask, you don’t get!”, led him to a remarkable career at Titleist and FootJoy. Through sheer persistence and his undeniable Southern charm, he forged a connection with the company’s executive assistant, eventually landing his dream job in 1985, proving that sometimes, all it takes is a well-placed resume and a camp out in the parking lot!
Greg’s success at Titleist and FootJoy extended far beyond personal achievements. He generously shared his gifts and talents with the community, mentoring and coaching young golfers, some of whom went on to earn scholarships and even play professionally. He was a pillar of support, providing not only his expertise but also valuable equipment, always looking for ways to empower the next generation to shine on the course. His dedication extended beyond individual coaching, as he also served as an advisor for various charity golf events, giving back to the sport he loved.
Greg shared his many talents with his kids; Michael and Haley have fond memories growing up with their Dad. Greg coached Michael in Pop Warner football along with hockey and golf. Haley served as a sous chef watching her Dad cook while bonding over their love for the Food Network. Among the many treasured memories as family and his most ‘gregarious moments’ were the summers spent at Camp Woody playing in the ocean, racing go carts, Greg ‘gatoring’ to SHOUT! His heart and home welcomed many, but Sherrod Croom and Sam Curtis, he loved you like his own!
