VARN, Jr., Jerry EHRHARDT – Entered into eternal rest on the evening of Saturday, July 7, 2007, Mr. Gerhard DeLoach Jerry Varn, Jr., at his residence, 13818 Broxton Bridge Road in Ehrhardt. Funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Wednesday morning, July 11, 2007, from Ehrhardt Southern Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Varn Family Cemetery, located on the property of Broxton Bridge Plantation, Ehrhardt. Mr. Varn was born July 13, 1932, in Ehrhardt, and was a son of the late Gerhard DeLoach Varn, Sr., and the late Rosa Hearn Varn. Jerry was the owner of Broxton Bridge Plantation, which was built in the 1700’s and has been in the family for over nine generations. He was also the owner and operator of Varnco, Inc. in Ehrhardt. He was a member of Ehrhardt Southern Methodist Church and was a graduate of The Citadel – Class of 1953. Survivors include: his wife of 53 years, Mrs. Gwen Brunson Varn; his four children, Lucinda Varn Collins of Mebane, North Carolina, Gerhard DeLoach Jerry Varn, III, and his wife Diana of Ehrhardt, Mary Ida Padgett and her husband Roger of Fairfax, and Henry Brunson Varn, Sr., and his wife Rebecca of Ehrhardt; and nine grandchildren, Faye Whitehead, Ariel Collins, Ian Collins, Gerhard D. Varn, IV, Martin Varn, Eric Padgett, Aaron Padgett, Elizabeth Varn, and Henry B. Varn, Jr. Family and friends are invited to call from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at THE BRICE W.
