Gerald S. Triplett, of Clinton, Miss., died April 3. On a cold, dreary, southeast Arkansas delta morning, December 10, 1925, a new warmth and brightness came into the lives of Gerald and Pearl (nee Stroud) Triplett: their first and only born, Gerald Stroud Triplett. Though in celebration of his life, we announce that on April 3, 2021, Gerald went home to be with Jesus and his pre-deceased family members: his wife of more than 71 years, Jean (nee Short, 2019) and son Gerald Stroud Triplett, Jr. (2014). When Gerald was in high school he met a girl that would become the love of his life Jean Short. They got married in 1947 and were married 72 years until her death. After he graduated high school in 1943 he promptly joined the Marine Corp to help save the world. In May of 1949 he graduated from The Citadel with a degree in Civil Engineering and and retired as the President of America’s asphalt manufacturers’ trade association~ The Asphalt Institute. He and Jean had two other sons, William Stuart and Robert James. All three sons were Eagle Scouts, played college sports, and earned college degrees. Leadership and teaching leadership was a favorite pass time which was manifested in his many years as a Scoutmaster in the local troop as well as an Elder in their church. He loved out door activities such as camping, scuba diving, and fly fishing. Most of all he loved his wife Jean. Even though he was sick, it was his broken heart and missing her that took him. Gerald will be interred at Clinton Cemetery next to his dear wife Jean. He is survived by his two sonsWilliam Stuart and Robert James, their spousesLinda and Marianne, William and Linda’s children-Taylor and Jennifer, and grand daughterLilly.
