Jerry Benjamin, 86, of Woodbridge CT and Palm Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, August 25, 2016. Born in New Haven on July 8, 1930, he was the devoted son of the late Samuel and Rose (Goldsmith) Benjamin; loving husband of Rita (Ment) Benjamin of 65 years; brother of Donald Benjamin, whose wife Rhoda is deceased, and the late Steven Benjamin; brother-in-law of the late Ros (Bertrum) Ment Lesser and the late Lila (David) Ment Rudnick; father of Bruce (Zara) Benjamin, Cary (Andrea) Benjamin, and Julie Benjamin; grandfather of Ryan, Josh, Shayna, Nathan, Andrew, and Isla Benjamin; as well as uncle to many nieces and nephews. He attended The Citadel in South Carolina. Jerry worked with brother Don at Carroll Cut-Rate Furniture, the family business in West Haven, for 60 years, eventually bringing in Jerry’s sons, Bruce and Cary.
