George Hampton Rogers entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 27, 2009, Mr. George Hampton Rogers, Sr. 89, of Mt. Pleasant, SC. He was born in Asheville, NC on July 7, 1919, the son of Nora Hampton and Charles Hayden Rogers. Mr. Rogers was a Citadel graduate and honorably served our country in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard after thirty-four years as an Electrical Engineer. Mr. Rogers was an Eagle Scout and received the Order of the Arrow. He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve, a volunteer for the U.S. Air Force 437th Air Wing Medical corps and the Snee Farm Country Club where he was an avid golfer. Mr. Rogers was a Deacon of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ and a member since 1937. He will be remembered as a man devoted to his God, his family and his work. Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife, Donna Haynes Rogers of Mt. Pleasant; his sons: G. Hamp Rogers and his wife, Barbara, of Tega Cay, SC, Durward Rogers and his wife, Lou Ann, of Durham, NC and Brad Rogers of Camden, SC as well as six grandchildren: Greg, Rachel, Jordan, Kathleen, Julia and McKenzie; one great grandchild: Jake and a nephew: Bill Rogers of Columbia. He was predeceased by his first wife, Norma Bradner Rogers. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Rogers, Sr. are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 12:00 PM. Monday, March 30, 2009, at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the James A.
