George Henry Brewster, Jr., of Charlotte, died April 18th, 2012, at Presbyterian Hospice. He was born July 21, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York, to George and Elizabeth Hegedus Brewster.He was a graduate of the Citadel, Charleston, SC, and the Naval Pre-flight School, Pensacola; FL. George spent 7 years in the Navy and left the service with a lieutenant’s rank. He worked for E.I. du Pont de Nemours for 28 years, and recently worked with family at Park Road Books. George leaves his loving wife of 55 years, Margaret (Meg); daughter Elizabeth Rathmanner of Wilmington, DE; daughter Nancy Worsham and husband Fred of Charleston, SC; daughter Sally Brewster and husband Frazer Dobson of Charlotte; son James and his dear friend Jane Adams of Charlotte; and brother William Brewster and wife Linda of Oak Hill, VA. He is also survived by grandchildren Justin and Chris Rathmanner, and Alyssa, Caitlin, and Cameron Worsham, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. A Mass celebrating George’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 23rd at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Park Road. There will be a reception following the service.
