Lt Col George F. Marschalk, 86, of Augusta, left our earthly realm on Saturday, January 27, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of honor, dedication, and love. George’s life was marked by exceptional achievements and profound devotion to his family.
A loving and dedicated husband, father, and Opa, George is survived by the love of his life, Nancy “Nanny” Marschalk, with whom he shared a remarkable 64 years of marriage. His memory lives on through his four children: Linda Coomer, John (Mary) Marschalk, Edward (Rhonda) Marschalk, and Julia Pokrzywinski. George is also survived by his sister, Jane (William) Berry, seven grandchildren – Miranda (Russ) Winter, Christina (Matt) Stephens, Brittany (Chris) Potter, Riley Marschalk, Lindsey Jane Pokrzywinski, Jesse Lane Pokrzywinski, and Katherine Marschalk – and three cherished great-grandchildren: Audrey Stephens, Carter Stephens, and Eleanor Stephens. George was preceded in death by his parents, Julie and John Marschalk; and son-in-law, Eddie Coomer.
A graveside service to celebrate George’s life will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 2, 2024, in Harlem Memorial Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Thursday from 4 – 6 PM at Starling Funeral Home.
