George Edward Thompson, 90, of Hurst, TX, a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather, died Friday, July 29, 2016. Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association . He was born in Columbus, Miss., on Oct. 26, 1925, to David Burton Thompson and Marie Louise Eggleston Thompson. He spent his teenage years in Charleston, S.C., and graduated from The Citadel and was a veteran of World War II. His careers lead him to RCA in Cherry Hill, N.J., to Boeing and Sperry Rand in Huntsville, Ala., and to the FAA in Atlanta, Ga., and then to Fort Worth. He was an active member in the Methodist Church and a member of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class at St. Paul UMC. His wife, Rebecca, and grandson, Russell, preceded him in death. Survivors: He is survived by his children, Elaine Champagne, Randall Thompson and wife, Diane, and Joyce Thompson; grandchildren, Laura, Valerie, Amanda and Chris; great-grandchildren, Elise, Blake, Austin and Hayden Rebecca; sister-in-law, Virginia Clark; sister, Annie Laurie Ahls and husband, Bill; many nieces and nephews; and special loved ones, Joe DePaso and John Gabriel.
