RUSH, GEORGE EDWARD, age 83, of Birmingham was born on October 25, 1921 and passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2005. He attended and graduated from Georgia Military Academy and The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. He served as a 1st Lt. under General Patton during World War II near the end of the European Conflict where he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. After returning to Birmingham he ran a successful real estate investment firm. He was a charter member of Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church where he maintained his membership until his death. George Rush was preceded in death by parents William Redden and Gracie Shelby Rush. He is survived by wife, Nell Ross Rush; sister, Betty Jane Rush Watts (Ed); daughters, Janette Rush Beaumont (John) and Ronda Rush Carlisle (Dyer), son, William George Rush (Rhonda) children of Juanita Faucett Cox; step-son, Joshua M. Posey, Jr. (Brenda), step-daughter, Elizabeth P. Singer (Scott); 10 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three nieces; and one nephew. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church with visitation at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church.
