George Capers Bull, Jr., of 7613 Old State Road, Cameron, SC, died Monday, January 24, 2011, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 27, 2011, at Resurrection Lutheran Church with Reverend Wade Roof officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home, 3379 Columbia Road, Orangeburg, South Carolina. Mr. Bull was born in Cameron, SC, son of the late George Capers Bull and Mae Best Bull. A 1943 graduate of The Citadel, Mr. Bull served in World War II as a US Army Captain. He returned to Cameron to work in the family business, C. D. Bull & Sons. In 1970, he served as President of the Southeastern Cotton Ginners Association, and in 1971 he was named Ginner of the Year and was awarded the Horace Hayden Memorial Trophy for Outstanding Achievement in Cotton Ginning. He was an active, lifelong member of Resurrection Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Helen D. Bull of the home; daughters, Jan Bull Simpson of Columbia, Patricia Bull Burgin and husband Jim of Clarkesville, GA, and Millie Bull Horton and husband Tom of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Anne Simpson Lambert and husband Chris of Simpsonville, George Bull Simpson of Columbia; and great-granddaughter Carson Anne Lambert.
