Fred A. Kercher Ill, of Monroe Township, NJ, died February 7, 2005, at Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA. He was born February 19, 1945 in Conneaut, and was the son of Fred A. and Annabelle (Brewster) Kercher. A 1963 graduate of Conneaut High School, Mr. Kercher attended Citadel Military College in Charleston. SC. He taught at Rowe Middle School for a year, then began work at Exomet in the lab and progressed to plant manager for twenty years. He finished his career in management and sales at Elkem. Mr. Kercher was an avid bow hunter, gun enthusiast, fisherman and participated in competition archery. He loved to garden both vegetables and flowers. He loved animals, especially his dogs and cats. He was a great sports fan, enjoying the Cleveland Browns and the Conneaut High School team. He coached the Conneaut team one year, with enthusiasm. He enjoyed woodworking and built his own home, as well as many projects. The last was a bright red sleigh for his granddaughter. He was well-versed in spiritual studies, and was devoted to his family. Survivors include his wife Carol (Grey) Slocum Kercher, whom he married Feb. 29, 1992: his daughter Gretchen (Brian) Vona of Erie, PA; two stepsons, Daniel Car1 Slocum and Brian Kevin Slocum. both of Ashtabula; his sister Faith Sheny of Conneaut and his granddaughter Olivia Gianna Vona of Erie, PA. More distant relatives also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the National
