Frank Gibson Everett Jr., of Fayetteville, passed away Oct. 3, 2013, at the age of 89. Retired Army Col. Everett served with distinction in the 100th Infantry Division during World War II, earning the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, three battle stars for the European, African, and Middle East Campaigns, and the French Legion of Honor. He retired from the Army in 1970. After retirement he was an active volunteer as an elder emeritus with the First Presbyterian Church and member of the Calvin Sunday school class, a member of the Fayetteville Kiwanis Club, and he established an endowment at Fayetteville Technical Community College. He graduated from Fayetteville High School, the Citadel, and earned a master’s degree in business from the University of Alabama. He is survived by his wife, Mary Fant Holmes Everett; his sons, Frank Everett III (Janice) and Richard Everett (Tricia); sister, Marianne Everett; grandchildren, Veronica Griffin (Rob), Ashley Sharp (Nate), Elizabeth Everett, Lauren Minta (Tommy); stepgrandchildren, Will and Scott Warner; and great-grandchildren, Lucie and Jacob Sharp. A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church on Ann Street, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. Memorials may be given to the charity of your choice .
