A Graveside Service for Mr. Fain E. Edwards, 81, of Ashville, AL, will be at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Jacksonville City Cemetery with Reverend Bob McLeod officiating. Mr. Edwards passed into Glory on October 12, 2017 in Ashville. Mr. Edwards was born in Scottsboro, AL to Pauline McCord Bishop and A.D. Edwards. He graduated from The Citadel and earned an M.S. from Jacksonville State University. He was also an officer in the United States Army. He was a prominent businessman, who had an exclusive men’s shop, Fain Limited, in Birmingham. He was a teacher, but was best known as an artist blacksmith and knifemaker who started several companies in Jacksonville including Parker-Edwards Cutlery, Edwards Ironworks, and Steelwood. In 1995, he retired to the mountains of North Carolina which he loved. He was an avid hunter and raised Brittany Spaniels. He had been a member of the Rotary Club, the Knifemakers Guild, and McEntyre Baptist Church. Fain wanted to be known for loving the Lord and loving his family. He is survived by his wife, Katherine “Kay” Edwards; a daughter, Shannon Edwards Canant; a son, Fain Edwards, Jr.; three stepchildren, Suzanne Whiting, Bill Pannell, and Lee Pannell; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother John Edwards; and a sister, Myra Hunt.
