Francis Paul Butler, Jr. 88, a distinguished gentleman known for his unwavering loyalty and unyielding dedication to his family and country, passed away peacefully at his residence in Waynesville, NC on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. Born in Tampa, Florida on December 19, 1934, Paul Butler Jr. was the loving son of Francis Paul Butler Sr. and Clara Josephine Kiler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gert Butler. Paul attended the Citadel and proudly served in the United States Navy. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Sandy Butler; and five children, Kelly (Andy), Trudi (Bob), Nancy (Luis), Jennifer, and Rebecca. Paul experienced immeasurable joy as he watched his family grow through the generations. Sixteen grandchildren became the apples of his eye whose laughter filled every room he entered. As time unfolded further with grace and blessing, 16 great-grandchildren joined the family tree to add even more beauty to this already vibrant tapestry woven by love. Paul’s legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at the Garden of Memories in Tampa. The family will receive friends from 10 am until 10:45 am on Thursday at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories in Tampa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
