Eugene Neese Riddle passed away peacefully early Monday morning, November 16, 2015 in Sugar Land, Texas at the age of 88.
Gene was born on October 17, 1927 in Roper, North Carolina and earned degrees from The Citadel, 1950 (B.S. Civil Engineering) and Georgetown University Law Center, 1955 (Juris Doctorate). He was admitted to the Bar in 1955. He was a former patent examiner in the United States Patent and Trademark Office; formerly Chief Patent Counsel of ACF Industries in New York and patent attorney with Houston firm of Bush, Riddle & Jackson; admitted to Texas, District of Columbia, Missouri and North Carolina Bars. Colonel U.S. Army Reserve (ret).
He enjoyed spending time with his family in Amelia Island, FL and Montreat, NC. Among his many interests and hobbies were fishing, golfing, boating, tennis, traveling, and playing bridge.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Sybil Corbett Riddle. He is survived by three children Catherine McIntosh (David) of Macon, GA, Jefferson Riddle (Gloria) of Sugar Land, TX and Charlotte Sebesta (Michael) of Roswell, GA; six grandsons, Luke McIntosh (Hillary), Scott McIntosh (Lindsey), Clayton Riddle (Ashley), James Riddle, Andrew Riddle and Matthew Sebesta; one granddaughter, Laura McIntosh Winters (Benjamin); and four great-granddaughters.
A private inurnment will be held at Lewis Memorial Park, in Asheville, NC, on Saturday, November 21, 2015. In lieu of flowers, you are invited to send a contribution, in Gene’s memory, to the Montreat Conference Center, P.O. Box 969, Montreat, NC 28757, or the benevolence of you choice.
