Emogene T. Lacey, 81, of Ravenel, wife of Artie P. Lacey died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 11 o’clock at Christ St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Cemetery, Hollywood. Friends may visit at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, Summerville from 6 until 8 o’clock this evening. Mrs. Lacey was born January 7, 1928 in Awendaw, a daughter of the late Bonny Gerald Thames and Julia White Thames. She was a graduate of McClellanville High School and received her master’s degree in Education Administration at the Citadel. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time with her family. She attended Christ St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and retired from Summerville Elementary School as Principal. Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons and one daughter, Gerald “Jerry” Lacey (Linda), Rachel Jacobs (Adam) and Richard D. Lacey (Joanna) all of Ravenel; four grandchildren, Joshua P. Lacey (Lynnsey) of Summerville, Meghan Lacey of Ravenel, Reiley Jacobs of James Island and Claire Lacey of Ravenel; one sister, Mary McConnell of Mt. Pleasant, and several nieces and nephews.
