Name Residence: E. John Deedrick Acworth,GA Date of Death: 09/16/2007 Notice E. John Deedrick, age 86, of Acworth, Georgia died Sunday, September 16th, 2007. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Marietta on Thursday. September 20th, 2007 at 11 o’clock in the morning. The family will receive visitors at the church from 10 o’clock until 11 o’clock. Mr. Deedrick was a veteran of World War II serving in the 30th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received during the Battle of the Bulge and the Bronze Star medal for actions in Belgium. After returning from World War II, Mr. Deedrick attended The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, graduating in 1951 with a degree in electrical engineering. During his life, he worked as an engineer at the Savannah River Plant, Lockheed and NASA. Later he worked as the physical plant director for Northern Kentucky University and the Atlanta Arts Alliance. His parents Edward and Eloise Deedrick, his brother, Robert Deedrick and his sister, Carolyn Deedrick preceded Mr. Deedrick in death. Mr. Deedrick is survived by his wife, Mary of Acworth, Georgia; her daughters, Peggy Barron and Becky and Gene Rhodes of Marietta, Georgia; their children, Mark Barron, Steve Barron and Evelyn Rhodes; his son, John and Rebecca Deedrick of Fort Lewis, Washington; his grandchildren, Jack and Mary Margaret Deedrick; his brothers, Donald and Harold Deedrick; and his sisters, Madelyn and Kathryn Deedrick.
