Edward Winslow, Jr., 72, of Edisto Beach, died Saturday, October 15, 2011, at the Kindred Hospital in Charleston. A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday. A memorial mass will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at St. Frederick & St. Stephen Catholic Church on Edisto Island, with the Reverend Antony Benjamine officiating. Born on October 3, 1939 in Orangeburg, he was a son of the late Edward Winslow and Florence McWeeny Winslow. He was a graduate of Orangeburg High School, The Citadel, US Border Patrol Academy and the SMU School of Banking in Dallas, Texas. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Winslow retired as a banker with Wachovia Bank. He was a member of several organizations, including the Society of Mayflower Descendants of South Carolina, Jamestowne Society, Orangeburg VFW, Orangeburg Elk Lodge, and Edisto Island Yacht Club. He was also a member of St. Frederick & St. Stephen Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, G-Nell Winslow of the home; a daughter, Ellin McDonough (Jonathan) of Rock Hill; two sons, Edward Madison Winslow of Columbia, and Timothy C. Winslow (April) of Lexington; a sister, Dolores Winslow of Orangeburg; grandchildren, Eileen “Abbey” and Caroline Winslow, and Joseph and Willow McDonough.
