Edward G. Bounds Jr., 66, of Salisbury died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born April 14, 1942, in Salisbury, he was a son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Bounds. Mr. Bounds attended school in Salisbury, graduated from Wicomico High School in 1960, and attended The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., graduating in 1964 as a civil engineer. After two years in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, he worked in structural steel fabrication, eventually owning Steel Tech Fabricators in Delmar. Always an entrepreneur, he also started a pre-stressed concrete company and a business for galvanizing crab pots. In recent years, he invented and patented equipment for the poultry industry. He loved boating and the Chesapeake Bay, building his first boat at age 9. As a child, he built a go-cart and in high school built and drove the “coolest” roadster in Wicomico County. He was active in the Wicomico Yacht Club for many years, serving as commodore in 1977. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Maureen Melbourn Bounds; two daughters, Annabeth Maura and her husband, Chris, of Nassau, Bahamas, and Ashley Stanton and her husband, Todd, of Atlanta; five grandsons; and a sister, Lydia Everton of Baltimore. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wallace Bounds. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Holloway Funeral Home P.A. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service. The Rev. Glenn Catley will officiate. Interment will be private.
