E. Lewis Gresham, of Charleston, was born in Charleston, South Carolina on February 14, 1945. He departed this life on July 27, 2014. He was the son of E. L. and Frances Gresham. Lewis was a graduate of Chicora High School, attended Clemson University and was a veteran-student graduate from The Citadel. Lewis was in the U.S. Marine Corps for 4 years, was the top graduate from his Parris Island group of recruits, and served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. He worked as an electrical engineer for South Carolina Electric and Gas, then owned his own business and currently was working as a systems engineer. He enjoyed a great variety of activities including boating, golfing and water skiing. Lewis ran marathons with his daughter Laura. He coached many of his daughters’ softball teams starting at the T-ball level. He is survived by three daughters: Ellen Gresham, Cheryl Gunter and Laura Gresham; his son-in-law, Lanny Gunter; three grandchildren: Gresham Gunter, Emmalee Gunter and Weldon Gunter; two sisters: Ferne Brandt and Linda Howard; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held on the patio at LG’s, 1005 Tanner Blvd, Hanahan, SC, Thursday, July 31, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Special Gathering, 5350 Pierce Rd., Ridgeville, SC 29472.
