The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Donald W. Sueverkruepp, Sr. are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home this Monday evening between 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. Donald was born in Altamonte, South Dakota on September 25, 1930, a son of Frederick D. and Marie Louise Wolfe Sueverkruepp. He graduated from Gary High School and the Citadel, class of 1957, with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. Donald worked at the Kennedy Space Center, was involved with the Apollo Space Program and helped design the Lunar Excursion Vehicle. In 1975, after seventeen years of faithful service, he returned to Charleston with his family and went to work for the Charleston Naval Shipyard in the Design Division. He retired in 1993. Donald honorably served our country in the U. S. Navy. He enjoyed gardening and was instrumental in helping to form the town of James Island. Donald is survived by his wife of fifty-five years: Rosemary Burkhardt Sueverkruepp; his children: Donald W. Sueverkruepp, Jr. and his wife, Deborah, Donna S. McClenney and her husband, Robert, Karen S. Balliet and her husband, James, all of Charleston and Janet S. Allen and her husband, Gary, of Folkston, GA; nine grandchildren, one great grandchild; a sister: Ruby S. Stangeland of South Dakota; a brother: Melvin C. Sueverkruepp of Minnesota and a son in law: Gary S. Resetar of Winter Park, FL. He was predeceased by a daughter: Cynthia S. Resetar.
