ANDREWS, S.C. Donald Goodwin Walker, 70, died Tuesday, August 27, 2002, at Roper Hospital in Charleston, S.C. Mr. Walker was born in Charleston, S.C., on August 15, 1932, a son of the late Vincent Leroy Walker and Ellen Goodwin Walker. He was a graduate of St. Andrews High School and The Citadel. Mr. Walker served in the Navy out of Norfolk, Va., and was a certified public accountant for a number of years. He was founder of New Hanover Workshop in Wilmington, N.C., and was the director and manager for approximately twenty-five years. Mr. Walker worked with The Old Town Hall Museum and Andrews Revitalization. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and United Methodist Men. Mr. Walker was very active in the Chancel Choir and in Lew Mills Sunday School Class. Surviving are: his wife, Sandra Blakeley Walker of Andrews, S.C.; a daughter, Debbe W. McCombie of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Cathy J. Walker of N. Wilkesboro, N.C.; two sisters, Mary Walker Van of Wilmington, N.C., and Juanita W. Lane of Maderita Beach, Fla. , two step-sons, Ronald M. Rabon of Tallahassee, Fla., and W. Thomas Rabon of Moncks Corner, S.C., four grandchildren, John, Anne, David and Drew; and several nieces and nephews, including special nephews Christian, Davis and Peyton. Mr. Walker was predeceased by his first wife, Anne Durant Walker, a son, Donald Walker Jr., a sister, Helen W. Carter, and a brother, V.L. Walker. Funeral services will be at four o’clock Thursday, August 29, 2002, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Andrews, S.C. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Steven M. Todd and Mrs. Carolyn Rogerson. Burial will follow at Andrews Memorial Cemetery in Andrews, S.C., under the direction of the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening, August 28, 2002, from six until eight.
