McCree, Donald G. – Age 89 Formerly of Bloomington Died May 11, 2005. Avid tennis player; 33rd degree Mason; WWII pilot; hard-working and dedicated; loving husband and father. Don was born August 30, 1915 in St. Paul. He graduated from the Citadel as a Civil Engineer and received his MBA degree from Harvard Graduate Business School. During WWII, Don served as a B-17 pilot in England where he flew 42 missions and became commander of 612th Squadron 401st Bomb Group. He was awarded the Silver Star, two Distinguished Flying Crosses, eight Air Medals, and the French Croix de Guerre. After the war, Don returned to MN as President of McCree & Co., a general contracting construction company. He was a past president of the Assoc. Gen’l Contractors of MN, and the Concrete Paving Assoc. of MN. Don was a Past Master of Capital City Masonic Lodge, a Thirty-Third Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of Osman Shrine Temple, and served for a number of years on the board of the MN Masonic Home and Care Center. Don’s great love was tennis which he played daily after retirement and enjoyed well into his ’70’s. Preceded earlier this year by his wife of 59 years, Ann Haydock McCree. Survived by son, Donald, Jr.; daughters Ann, Susan, and Sally. Private interment, Roselawn Cemetery.
