William Brinson Spell, of Charleston, entered into eternal rest on the morning of September 8, 2009, William Brinson Spell, husband of Marian Jordan Spell. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. William Brinson Spell are invited to attend the funeral services of the former, Thursday, September 10, 2009, at eleven o’clock in Asbury-St. James United Methodist Church. Interment, Riverview Memorial Park. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Wednesday between six and eight o’clock. Mr. Spell was born April 16, 1925, in Charleston, SC, the son of Richard B. Spell and Alice Evans Spell. He was a graduate of The Citadel Class of 1949 and a veteran of World War II and retired as Lt. Col. with the United States Air Force Reserves. During World War II, Bill served as a pilot in the CBI Theater. Following the war, Mr. Spell returned to Charleston to assume responsibility in his father’s company and retired as the owner of Charleston Sheet Metal and Roofing Works. He was a member of Asbury-St. James United Methodist Church, The Hibernian Society and the Charleston Elks Lodge #242. He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years of Charleston, SC and his son, Richard B. Spell of Mt. Pleasant, SC. He is predeceased by his daughter, Tina F. Spell.
