David Preston Page, Jr., 93, of Sautee-Nacoochee, Ga., passed away on February 16, 2022 in Gainesville, Georgia following a brief illness.
David was born in Fulton County, Georgia on July 2, 1928 to the late David Preston Page, Sr. and Christine Millwood Page. Upon graduating from The Citadel in 1953 with a Civil Engineering degree, he went into the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1953 to 1955. Following military service, he worked 33 Years for the Atlanta Gas Light Company, starting his career in 1956 as a Junior Engineer and retiring in 1990 as a Safety and Public Liaison Engineer.
David was an active member of Brookhaven Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia for many years, being ordained as a deacon and serving on numerous committees. After moving to White County in 1990, he became a member of Cleveland First Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Opal Manning Page and his brother, Charles Lee Page of Cornelia, Georgia. David is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Paul Neese of Flowery Branch, Georgia; grandson, Brandon Neese of Warner Robins, Georgia; and sister Helen Jo Schneider of Covington, Georgia. He also leaves behind many dear cousins, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:30 A.M. Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Dennis Turner will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Barrett Funeral Home in Cleveland.
