David Ladson Lybrand, 74, of Edisto Island, husband of Doris (Patrick) Lybrand, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Hospice of Charleston in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral Services will be held at The Presbyterian Church on Edisto Island, 2164 Highway 174, Edisto Island, SC 29438 on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 11 o’clock AM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. David was born on June 23, 1941 in Aiken, SC, son of the late Harvie Lybrand and Jennie (Owens) Lybrand. He was a graduate of St. Paul’s High School and also graduated from The Citadel, Class of 1963, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He became the owner and broker in charge of Edisto Sales and Rentals Realty until retirement in 2006. In 1974, he began construction on Oristo, the only golf course on Edisto Island. He served in the United States Coast Guard. He was a member and elder of The Presbyterian Church on Edisto Island. He was a man of great faith who always had a smile on his face. David is remembered for his grace, kindness, humility, and wisdom. Surviving in addition to his wife Doris are: two daughters: Kimberly Lybrand (Leon) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Patience Lybrand of Silver Creek, GA; stepdaughter: Meg Erwin (Sam) of Greenville, SC; stepson: Warren Scoville (Ashley) of Greenville SC; one brother: Samuel Lybrand (Joyce) of Edisto Island, SC; eight grandchildren: Ashlyn Milne, Amber Brown, Brianna Roberson, Sam Erwin, Patrick Erwin, Sallie Scoville, Ren Scoville and Kammie Scoville. He was predeceased by his brother, Tom Lybrand. Memorials may be made to Presbyterian Church on Edisto Island, 2164 Highway 174/P.O.
