Daniel Frank, age 83, died peacefully at his home in Killen, Ala., on Wednesday, Feb 26, 2014. He was born in Glen Cove, New York. He graduated college from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina in 1953. He entered the military and was a second lieutenant in the US Air Force. He went on to get his Master’s in Business from Columbia Business School. In the late 1980’s he moved to Killen. He is survived by his longtime partner and wife, Mhairi Paisley Frank. Survivors also include children, Linda Frank, of Huntsville, Steven Frank, of Sea Cliff, NY, and Peter Frank, of Windham, NH; and his five granddaughters, Arielle, Ryanne, Marissa, Megan and Samantha; his brother, Martin Frank of Boca Raton, FL; and sisters, Gilda Canarick of Boynton Beach FL and Miriam Violin of Reno, NV also survive him. He was a member in the Decatur business community for many years as President, CEO and owner of P and F Manufacturing, manufacturers of disposable protective clothing, and the parent company, Abandaco, Inc. In retirement, he was an avid biker and hiker and lover of nature. A longtime member of the Sierra Club, he loved hiking in this country and abroad. A small private ceremony was held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Sierra Club or any charitable organizations that help those in need.
