Major Daniel Fair departed this life and joined our Heavenly Father on August 25, 2006, while at Trident Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina. He was born to Benjamin Fair, Sr. (deceased) and Bessie Mae Fair (deceased) in Charleston, South Carolina on September 2, 1946. Major Fair attended Colleton County Schools and graduated with honors as valedictorian. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for four years, including a tour in Vietnam. He also graduated from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, in 1971. After graduation, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army, where he served for 18 years as a military policeman and military intelligence officer. He retired from the Army with the rank of Major in 1992. While on tour in Greece with the Air Force, he met and married Ekaterini (Katherine) Massouraki on December 25, 1967, and to this union three sons were born. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 39 years, Katherine, his three sons Constantinos David Fair (Vilma) of Detroit Michigan, Mikel Deron Fair of Houston, Texas and Bryan Darrell Fair of Charleston, South Carolina; two granchildren, Brianna Catrelle Fair and Mikel Deron Fair, Jr.; four sisters, Gladys Elliott, Sally (Hardy) Richardson, Loubertha (Harvey) Oliver and Barbara (William) Boswell; two brothers, Benjamin Fair, Jr. (deceased) and Samuel (Carrie Jane) Fair; sister-in-law Jessie Fair; and special friend of 34 years James (Cheryl) Moreno. Additionally, he leaves many nephews and nieces, as well as a host of friends and colleagues worldwide. The relatives and friends of Maj. Daniel Fair, USA (Ret.) are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Charleston. The interment will be held with Military Honors in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, October 18, 2006. Arrangements are by the JAMES A.
