Craig Allen Coker, 54, of Lugoff, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023 surrounded by family. Born April 08, 1969 in Patchogue, NY, he was the son of the late Paul Gregory Coker and Barbara Pack Busse. Mr. Coker graduated from Hampton Bays High School in Hampton Bays, NY, class of 1987. In 1991, he graduated from The Citadel with his Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering and once served as a board member on The Citadel’s Alumni Association. He had an active role in the local Boy Scouts and was an assistant Scout Master for Troop #316. Mr. Coker helped found and was also a leader of Venture Crew Unit #316. In his younger days, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. As he grew older he was very invested in his family, work and The Citadel. He also enjoyed reading, history and genealogy.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Melissa Ann Corwith Coker; children, Ryan Coker, Nathaniel Coker, Emma Coker and Caroline Coker; paternal aunts, Carol Zielenski and Julie Sokel; maternal aunts, Judy Heflin and Janice Myers; sister-in-law, Karen Corwith; nephew, Eric Corwith; niece, Kimberley Corwith; and a host of cousins, and many more extended friends and family.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his stepfather, Kurt Busse.
A memorial service honoring the life of Mr. Coker will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 at 5:00 pm at Powers Funeral Home in Lugoff, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
