Cornelious Robert Simmons was born March 5, 1952, in Summerville, to Christopher Simmons, Sr., an Annie Haynes Simmons. He died on May 5, 2011, at the VA Hospital in Baltimore, Md.
He graduated from Alston High School in 1970 and from The Citadel in 1974. He worked in Atlanta for a few years and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving from Oct 21, 1980, to Oct. 19, 1984. He stayed in Annapolis, Md., after being discharged from Fort Mead.
At an early age Cornelious was baptized at Central Baptist Church.
Those left ot cherish his memory are his mother, a daughter, Marleka Simmons, his brothers, Christopher Simmons, Jr., and Lorant Simmons, his sisters, Gerletha Simmons and Dorothy Jones, an uncle, Harry Simmons, an aunt, Wilhelmena McClellan, nieces, Tanya Lott, Ashley Simmons and Lisa Jones, nephews, Levy Jones, Eric Simmons and Kendall Simmons, six grandnieces and nephews and his family and friends.
