PurvisSr.,ClydeJack Clyde ‘Jack Purvis Sr. Clyde Jack Purvis Sr., 84 passed away Friday, November 30, 2007. He was born in Nash County on Aug. 16, 1923, to the late Coen Vernum Purvis and Lillian Jenkins Purvis. He was a Round House Supervisor for CSX and a U.S. Army WWII veteran, serving in Europe and the Pacific. He was a graduate of the Citadel in Charleston, S.C. Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Beverly Andrews Purvis; brother, Leon Purvis and sister, Nelrose Purvis. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Purvis Chance and husband Charles of Red Oak; sons, Clyde Jack Jay Purvis Jr. of Alpharetta, Ga., Randy A. Purvis and wife Tina of Raleigh; sisters, Evelyn Montague of Rocky Mount and Delores Edwards of Red Oak; and a brother, C.V. Purvis Jr. of Orange Park, Fla. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jody Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends this evening at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30p.m. and following the service at the home. Memorial donations may be made to Lakeside Baptist Church, 1501 Sunset Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804. Arrangements are by Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC.
